Description

The Town of Warsaw (population 2,333), located an hour from Richmond and Fredericksburg in Virginia’s historic and picturesque Northern Neck Region, is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Facilities Management and Groundskeeping. This position will serve as part of our talented public works team, working to ensure Warsaw maintains our beautiful parks, facilities, and amenities. The desired candidate will also assist with our many events throughout the year and will collaborate in working towards our goal of being recognized as one of Virginia’s most beautiful small towns. 

This position is full-time with an excellent benefits package that includes health, vision and dental insurance at no cost to the employee, paid time off and holiday pay that includes all Federal and State holidays (16 Total Days), and inclusion into the Virginia Retirement System (VRS). The employee may also receive a take-home vehicle, cell phone, occasional overtime compensation, and performance bonuses when applicable. Shift hours are typically 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend hours.

Salary Range: $39,000 - $43,000, DOQ/DOE
Please Note - Certified Landscape Technician, CDL, Water/Wastewater License, or other qualifying certifications may lead to a higher salary range than listed above. 

Position Duties

  • Maintains all Town property, including Town Hall, the Police Station, the Warsaw Town Park, The Bounds, all lift station areas, all wells and water tower areas, the Wastewater Treatment Plant and Town Shop, the Saddlery, all Town-owned sidewalks, trails, easements, fountains, etc.
  • Maintenance and care of the Town of Warsaw welcome signage, wayfinding signage, hanging baskets, park benches, landscaped areas, green space, etc.
  • Make regular and irregular inspections of equipment and facilities.
  • Assists with weekly refuse collection, as assigned.
  • On-site contact for most Town-sponsored events, including Christmas Town, Fourth Fridays Concert Series, Community Markets, etc.
  • Works with the Director of Public Works to develop and recommend short and long-range plans for the maintenance and improvement of all landscaped areas and amenities.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director of Public Works or Town leadership. 

Employment Requirements

  • Previous landscaping and maintenance experience.
  • Possession of valid VA Motor Vehicle License.
  • Occasional weekend and holiday work may be required, as needed.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging technologies and requirements within the field.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds may be required.
  • Basic mechanical experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with pumps, electrical equipment, and other related equipment is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain ethical and professional relationships with coworkers, leadership, and outside organizations.
  • Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
